Port Everglades Shuttle for US Car Hire.

Port Everglades is a very popular cruise port, but like other ports, has no on-site car hire collection or drop-off facilities.  If you have hired a car that you need to drop off before a cruise, then it is best to drop it at a depot that provides a shuttle service to and from the port.

Car hire companies at Fort Lauderdale Airport at mostly located within a dedicated Rental Car Center which is next to Terminal 1.  If you are arriving via plane into terminals 2, 3 or 4, and need to collect a rental car then a convenient shuttle to the Rental Car Center is provided.  US car hire companies also offering international tour vouchers such as we sell via Trip Wheels are; Advantage, Alamo, Avis, Budget, Dollar and National and these are all located in the Rental Car Center.

To use the port shuttle, you will need to provide proof of the rental you have just deposited – your receipt will be fine.  Likewise for your return, you will need to provide proof that you are collecting a car in order to get on the shuttle and a paper voucher in the hand is much more obvious than a e-version stored on a mobile phone.  Look out for the car rental pick up signs on the dock. If you do have the opportunity to walk off with your luggage early, then you might not get too caught up in the rush for the shuttles.

We can also offer rentals through Sixt Rent-a-car which is located between the airport and Port Everglades.  The shuttle runs regularly, and if you call the number of the Fort Lauderdale location about 15 minutes before you disembark the shuttle should be there to meet you.

Just to let you know that the Sixt car hire at Fort Lauderdale went off fine. We got off the ship and phoned them as soon as we picked up our cases and by the time we got to the car rental pick-up point their van arrived. Their office is midway between the cruise and airport terminals – about 5 minutes. Brand new  Hyundai-Elantra 7 miles on the clock.

One advantage of remaining off airport is that you don’t have to get too involved in all the airport traffic!
